Kuih Jemput Jemput Pisang (Cekodok Pisang /Deep-Fried Banana Balls)

Kuih Jemput-Jemput Pisang or Fried Banana Balls is another popular street-snack in Malaysia. It is a deep-fried snack made with mashed banana, flour, and a bit of sugar to sweeten the batter.

Kuih Jemput Jemput Pisang (Cekodok Pisang /Deep-Fried Banana Balls)


4 to 5  (350 grams) Med-Sized Ripe Bananas
1/4 tsp Sea Salt
½ tsp Baking Soda
1 to 2 Tbsp Sugar
60 grams (1/2 Cup) All-Purpose Flour
Peanut or Vegetable Oil, for deep-frying


Mash the bananas. Then add the salt, baking soda, sugar, and all-purpose flour.  Combine well and set the batter aside for 10 to 15 minutes.

Heat the oil over moderate heat. Scoop some batter with a spoon and deep-fry the batter until golden brown. Drain on paper towel. Serve warm or at room temperature.
